Analysis Of Magazine Cover (Rolling Stone)

Remove formatting from selectionThis is the final magazine I will analyse, this magazine is called 'Rolling Stone'. This magazine is aimed at people who like rap or dance music. Firstly the main image (Jay-Z) is in the centre of the cover and the shot of him is a very close up shot, this shows that he is the main part of the magazine. This is a model shot, not a paparazzi shot, as he isn't shocked or the image isn't shocking. He is posing and is dressed like he is just for this cover. He is also in front of the title, this is because people remember what the title is and can see what it says without all the letters shown and it also shows the importance of Jay-Z.

All the fonts have the same font colour; silver, black and a light pink, this shows consistency throughout the cover and is easy for people to see/read. Other than the title the captions are all in capital lettering, this shows us that the magazine is generally informal this will appeal to the reader. The captions also create a frame around Jay -Z, again this shows that it is a tidy and professional magazine, and again makes the main image stand out. Additionally on this cover the sub title is smaller and in a different colour to the caption underneath, which may indicate that the caption itself is more of a audience puller rather than the subtitle.

The background in this cover is white, this makes the main image and all the fonts stand out and be easily read or seen. Finally the splash, going straight across Jay-Z, telling you the main subject of this issue of the magazine, this should tempt you into buying the magazine and reading on.
