Excellent research and your planning is coming on well. Your mock-ups are promising, but work is clearly need to bring them to the standard that your pre-lims achieved. Continue to experiment with images/layouts/fonts/colours - don't restrict yourself to full black and white, you risk it becoming drab and I think you can do better than that.
