Double Page Spread 1.

This is a double page spread from a magazine. The main theme of this double page spread is Lily Allen, hence why she takes up half of the double page spread and a whole page. This double page spread is split up into two equal halves, one for the image and the other for the text.

The magazine uses a technique where it has a light background with black or dark fonts, this is so it is clear and easy to read for the viewer, however for the most important writing on this spread, a quote that has been selected from the writing, is in a white font, so you would expect not to be able to read it, however it has been placed over many different black boxes to make the font stand out and be the first thing that catches your attention and that you read. The fact that the black also stands out from the white background makes this quote even more unmissable, as it does many things that will all grab your attention. They also use this white backgroud because it is simple and is neutral, this makes it easy for them to place the images onto the backgroud, (they generally would'nt have to change much in the picture because of this).

The image used in this spread is a close up of Lily Allen, this attracts you to her and the shot is also a model shot, she has been dressed like this just for this one shot. Her hair, the clothers and make-up are all done in a certain way just for this magazine shot.

Finally the writing in this double page spread is split up into columns, this is to keep the pages organised and give the magazine a professional look; they do this in newspapers.
