Layout 2.

This is my second idea for the layout of my magazine, this includes the image taking up the majority of the page, this will make the picture stand out and attract people into the magazine, it also has the banner to include information about the magazine. Finally it has the masthead enlarged, again to make it stand out and it also has the caption underneath it to show that it is the main story.

Layout.

This is the layout that I used for my preliminary, I like this design because it allows more than one story to be published on the front cover at once. I also like the idea of having the masthead directly next to the logo. This would be used throughout all the magazine covers that I compete, this would give my magazine consistency and make it a well known magazine name. On this design there is also a banner going across the bottom of the cover, this will include some information of what to expect in the magazine as well as the images and captions above it, the banner is a good technique I like because it shows the viewer what is in the magazine without there being to much information on the cover, which could put the off continuing through the magazine.

Masthead!

I asked different students from the class and from other classes which of my mastheads they thought would make the best masthead for my magazine; which will be a indie rock theme. I asked the class which name they preffered, the most popular name was Pulse, this was also my favourite name as it strongly links to music.
1) Undercover
2) Vintage.
3) Pulse.
4) Recharge.
5) Supersonic.

Colours.

These are the colour schemes that I think would look effective on a magazine cover and I also think that they all work very well together. I used the bottom colour scheme on my pre-liminary and this looked good and worked well with my fonts, so this is my chosen colour scheme, also as they are my favourite colours as well. My second favourite are the colours above, these are similar to my favourite set, again these are the type of colours that I would use in my main design.

I have created some of my mock ups and I decided to change the colour scheme that I am going to use, this is because it goes well with the images and the font that I am using on my design.
